Terms of Use

Last updated:

In short
  • GZAGO is licensed to you for personal use.
  • Each city is a one-time purchase that stays yours. No subscription.
  • Refunds and payments are handled by Apple.
  • Look at the street, not the screen. Your safety comes first.

Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to the GZAGO iPhone app and the website gzago.app, developed by Konstantin Pikatov, an individual developer (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using GZAGO you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

The app is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These Terms add details specific to GZAGO. If they conflict with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA prevails.

License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use GZAGO on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store rules. You may not copy, resell, redistribute or publicly perform the stories, audio, texts or illustrations, and you may not reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.

Cities and purchases

  • The app is free to download. A few stories in every city are free.
  • Each city is unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase. The current price is shown in the App Store before you buy and may vary by country.
  • A purchased city stays available to you for as long as GZAGO is available in the App Store. You can restore your purchases on your other devices with the same Apple ID.
  • There are no subscriptions and no automatic renewals.
  • Payments, billing and refunds are handled by Apple. To request a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.

Stories and content

Our stories are written by us from open sources, in a friendly tone, to make a walk more interesting. They are not an official tourist, historical or legal reference. The voice in the app is generated with artificial intelligence. Illustrations are drawn in our own style and are not exact depictions.

We check that every place on a route exists before release, but places can close, change opening hours or be rebuilt. We may update, correct, add or remove stories and routes. If you notice a mistake, please tell us at hello@gzago.app.

Walk safely

  • Stay aware of traffic and your surroundings. Do not look at your phone while crossing a street.
  • Keep the volume at a level where you can still hear cars, bikes and people around you.
  • Respect private property, opening hours, local laws and the rules of the places you visit.
  • Some routes are meant to be travelled by car or taxi. Never use the app while driving. Let a passenger handle the phone.

You walk and travel at your own risk and are responsible for your own decisions on the route.

Maps and other services

Routes open in Google Maps or Apple Maps. Directions, distances and times come from those services, which are provided by third parties under their own terms. We are not responsible for their accuracy or availability.

Intellectual property

The GZAGO name, logo, mascot, stories, audio, texts and illustrations belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Google Maps and Apple Maps are trademarks of Google LLC and Apple Inc.

Disclaimer and liability

GZAGO is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do our best to keep it accurate and working, but we do not guarantee that it will always be error-free, uninterrupted or that every place will be open when you arrive. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for injury, loss or damage that results from using the app or following a route. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the city in question. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.

Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for GZAGO or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any claims relating to the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Georgia. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of Georgia, unless the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes and contact

We may update these Terms when GZAGO changes. The current version is always on this page with the date above. If you continue to use the app after an update, the new Terms apply. Questions are welcome at hello@gzago.app.
